Blueberry and Apple GF Crumble

I grew up on crumbles. This combo of berries and apple is delightful in the Traeger grill with a little smoke, and it’s extra juicy because the blueberries have a high water content. It’s an awesome, easy, and crowd-pleasing recipe, and it’s also great for breakfast the next day.

Ingredients

1 cup coconut, shredded

1 cup brown sugar

2 cups rolled oats

1 cup almond meal

2 teaspoons cinnamon powder

200g butter, soft

4 cups blueberries

4 cups sliced granny smith apples

Whipped cream, to serve

Equipment:
Traeger grill

- Serves 6 -

HOW TO MAKE IT

  1. Set your Traeger grill to 180 C / 355 F and fill the hopper with apple wood.

  2. In a pot, add the apples, and then fill the pot halfway with water. Cook apples until soft.

  3. Once cooked, place the apples in the bottom of a baking dish, preferably a ceramic one, and add the blueberries on top.

  4. In a bowl, add the dry ingredients, and mix with a spoon until incorporated. Add the butter, and mix with your hands until it starts to clump together.

  5. Pour mixture over the top of the apples and berries, and evenly spread over the top, lightly pressing the topping into the fruit.

  6. Place in the grill for 20-30mins, or until the top starts to become golden brown in color and the berries have become juicy and cooked.

  7. Remove from the grill and allow to cool. Serve with whipped cream.
