WILD EVENT

Kiawe Outdoor Christmas Gathering

Hawaii holds a special place in my heart, so when my longtime friend Yeshua from Kiawe Outdoor invited me to join him as one of the chefs for a unique Christmas dinner, I couldn’t resist. The highlight of the evening was cooking an imu—a traditional Hawaiian method of slow-cooking food underground. We buried vegetables over hot rocks and let them roast. We also cooked up sourdough bread topped with caviar and lobster from the Big Island of Hawaii, cooked over coals with a rich seaweed butter. The evening brought together 60 friends and family from the island, all sharing in the joy and magic of community, tradition, and incredible food.
