Whisky Hog Meatloaf


This is a rad recipe to make for a week’s meal prep, or to gift to friends when they need a meal in the home. It’s super healthy, delicious when reheated, and so easy to make. Why not play around with the choice of ground meat, and also the flavor of wood you use? It’s sure to be a regular in your home.



Ingredients

1kg beef mince

1kg pork mince

500g of elk, venison, or other wild game meat (if you don’t have any, just use more beef)

2 tablespoons Traeger Whiskey Hog BBQ Sauce

1 yellow onion, diced finely

1 carrot, grated (about 1 cup)

1 cup parmesan cheese, grated

2 eggs, whisked

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Nuts (optional)

Equipment:

HOW TO MAKE IT

  1. Set your Traeger grill to 160 C / 320 F and fill with cherry wood.

  1. In a bowl, add all your ingredients. Mix well with your hands.

  2. Line a bread loaf tin with baking paper, or use silverbeet leaf (Swiss chard) and/or bacon.

  3. Add mixture, and press it into the tin. Season with salt and some nuts on top.

  4. Bake in the grill for 1-1.5 hours, or until cooked through.

  5. Allow to rest, and slice. (This is a great recipe made ahead of time and eaten as a snack throughout the day.)
